Alumna Aliya Hunter’s Solo Work Performed in PrideFest 2023
New York PrideFest 2023
Alumna Aliya Hunter (B.A., gender studies, sexuality and women’s studies, ‘21) will be doing her solo work Undefeated as part of New York’s PrideFest 2023. The work will be performed at The Tank on June 23 at 7 p.m.
In the solo performance, Hunter doesn’t like her memories. In fact, she likes to fight them…in a wrestling ring. Watch her kick ass, take a dance break or two, and risk everything to remain undefeated.
Hunter (she/her) is a performer, writer, and fight director based in New York by way of Southern California. Among many projects, she has made films about violent impulses, written plays about what sexual fulfillment actually means, and choreographed a stage fight for balloon swords. She is primarily interested in performing and writing pieces that explore her personal history and socialization as a queer woman of color. She is currently exploring magical realism, the troubles of girlhood, and being emotionally honest as a performer and writer. She received her MFA in Theatre from Sarah Lawrence College in May 2023.
