B.F.A., San Jose State University -- Pictorial Art
Danielle Torvik earned her studio arts BFA from San Jose State
University in 2017. Her nonrepresentational oil paintings stem
from her explorations with the versatility and unpredictability
of paint. She uses brushes, squeegees, sticks, dustbins, and any
object that can transfer paint. She sometimes works flat and
puddles and pours a mixture of paint and mineral spirits.
Sometimes she tilts the canvas or pushes and pulls the liquid
with the edge of a wooden frame. After employing methods of
unpredictability, she uses a more critical eye to insert
structure, form, space, and depth.
JAYJAY in Sacramento
will present a virtual exhibition of works by the first-year
MFAs entitled ”ENDNOTES.” The show, which will begin
May 27, will unfold with a series of instagram posts
that will take place every other day featuring Havilah Aos,
Valerie Arcara, Jesse Aylsworth, Dino
Capaldi, Genevra Daley, Mercy Hawkins, Gretchen
Lemaistre, and Dani Torvik.
