Department of Theatre and Dance Announces 2014-2015 Season
The UC Davis Department of Theatre and Dance 2014-15 season presents three productions directed by internationally renowned Granada Artists-in-Residence, three student showcases, as well as unticketed ITDP (Institute for Theatre, Dance and Performance) programs which open up the artistic process to the community. The new season also brings the 14th Annual UC Davis Film Festival—a co-production with Cinema and Digital Media, Art Studio and the Department of Design as well as the Main Stage Dance Theatre production being put on in the Spring. We are very excited to be starting a Movie Night every first Friday of each quarter with the cult hit “Rocky Horror Picture Show.”
Fall
The Gambling Lady (The Bassett Table) is a comedy in which Lady Reveller negotiates sexual intrigue and a high stakes gambling table. This production is especially exciting because Granada Artist-In-Residence, Director Fidelis Morgan, is also a scholarly expert on the Susanna Centlivre so-called Female Wits.
Winter
Woyzeck by George Buchner (interpreted by Neil LaBute) will be a ground-breaking spectacle that is reimagined for a modern audience. Woyzeck will be directed by Granada Artist-In-Residence Bob McGrath.
Spring
“The Light and Dark Arts: A Radical Magic Show” will be directed by Granada Artist-In-Residence Aaron Gach who will be playing with the age-old theatrical strategies of hiding and revealing, literally teaching our students magic.
