Sinéad Rushe Co- Directs “Who’s There?”

Sinéad Rushe returns to UC Davis in spring 2024 as Granada Artist-in-Residence to co-direct Who’s There?, Shakespeare’s Hamlet Reimagined.  

Rushe is a theatre director and acting teacher. She will reprise her critically acclaimed, polyphonic production of Othello in autumn 2024 at Riverside Studios London, where the character of Iago is played by an ensemble of three actors. Her directing credits include In the Solitude of Cotton Fields (Courtyard Theatre, CSSD London), AntigoneNOW with Margaret Kemp (SPE Media Film Festival: Granada Artist Fellowship, UC Davis, USA), Loaded (Old Rep Birmingham), Concert (The Pit, Barbican, Baryshnikov Arts Centre, New York & international tour: Gradam Comharcheoil Award-Winner/New York Bessie Award Nomination), Night Just Before the Forests (Macau Arts Festival, China), Diary of a Madman (Sherman Cymru, Wales: Welsh Theatre Critics Award), Something or Nothing (The Place & Sadlers Wells London), Out of Time (The Pit, Barbican, Baryshnikov Arts Centre, New York & international tour: Olivier & Dance Critics’ Circle Award Nomination).

She is the author of Michael Chekhov’s Acting Technique: A Practitioner’s Guide (Bloomsbury 2019), co-translator into French of four plays by Howard Barker (Editions Théâtrales) and was Senior Lecturer in Acting and Movement on the BA Acting (Collaborative and Devised Theatre) course at Central School of Speech and Drama, London. At Central she directed Hamlet, Julius Caesar, Romeo and Juliet, The Government Inspector, Othello, Much Ado About Nothing. She is co-director of Michael Chekhov UK, Faculty Council member of Michael Chekhov Association USA (MICHA), artistic director of Creative Actor Training and patron of Living Pictures theatre company. She gives masterclasses and talks worldwide on acting and the Michael Chekhov technique. She is artistic director of Creative Actor Training and Lead Acting Tutor at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London (RADA).
