Aleyna Wilgermein

Aleyna is a Ph.D. student in Musicology, focusing on learning, teaching, and self-expression in music. Her scholarly work emphasizes the coloniality of voice, specifically analyzing how performers contend with questions of identity and authority within musical and educational contexts. Her master’s thesis, Quiet Radicalism: Elizabeth Taylor Greenfield (c. 1807–1876) and Fashioning Black Celebrity, completed at the University of Missouri, Columbia, investigates how performers assert agency and navigate power through vocal and cultural self‑fashioning. She is dedicated to integrating music education with rigorous academic research and to creating avenues that promote dialogue among performance, pedagogy, and scholarly inquiry.
