The kiln room has seven Skutt electric kilns in varying sizes. There are three downdraft natural gas-fueled Bailey kilns; an 18 cubic ft. front-loader, a 54 cubic ft. shuttle with retractable track, and a trackless 120 cubic ft. with two car beds.
Other equipment includes two 9” pneumatic extruders, a 4” standard extruder, and a 30” slab roller. There are kick and electric wheels available for students. There are two pallet jacks, a 1000 lb. hydraulic lift for loading kilns, three 2000 lb. crank-operated lift-tables, and a forklift.
There are two large dough mixers, each mix 500 lbs. of dry materials. There is also a Bluebird mixer with 100 lbs. capacity.
The glaze room is fully stocked with raw materials, stainless steel tables, and a spray booth. The library has a student computer and many art books.
The ceramic facility is set up for large-scale work when necessary, with most of the studio furniture, sculpture stands, and tables fixed on wheels for easy moving. Ladders and hand tools are also available for use.
Students are strongly encouraged to become well versed in the safe use of all equipment and become independent studio artists.
