Bio

Ramona García (she/her/hers) is an interdisciplinary artist and community practitioner whose work explores healing, cultural memory, belonging, and collective care. Working across installation, social practice, and participatory art, she creates handmade objects, installations, and collaborative spaces that engage histories of migration, family, cultural inheritance, and lived experience.

Her practice is deeply informed by Mexican healing traditions and the papier-mâché and cartonería traditions of Guanajuato, Mexico, her family’s home state. Through handmade figures, altar-like objects, workshops, and community-engaged projects, Garcia explores how cultural practices can carry knowledge, memory, grief, and possibilities for repair. Her current research is increasingly focused on creation stories, Aztec/Mexica mythology, and autohistoria-teoría as frameworks for understanding the relationship between ancestral narratives and contemporary experience.
