Lynn Hershman Leeson

Cited as the “one of the world’s first and most influential media artists” (source: Zentrum fur Kunst und Medientechnologie), Lynn Hershman Leeson is internationally recognized for her pioneering contributions to the fields of photography, video, film, performance, artificial intelligence, bio art, installation and interactive as well as net-based media art. She is a recipient of the Siggraph Lifetime Achievement Award, Prix Ars Electronica Golden Nica, Guggenheim Memorial Foundation Fellowship, USA Artist Fellowship, San Francisco Film Society’s “Persistence of Vision” Award, the College Art Association’s Lifetime Achievement Award and a Special Mention at the 2022 Venice Biennial. Hershman Leeson has directed numerous films, many of which have been distributed worldwide. In 2021, a retrospective of her work, “Lynn Hershman Leeson: Twisted” was on view at the New Museum. Hershman Leeson’s work is included in the Hess Collection, the Museum of Modern Art, the The Zentrum fur Kunst und Medientechnologie, San Franscisco Museum of Modern Art, the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, Tate Modern, the Walker Art Center and many others.
