Katlin Marisol Sweeney-Romero Pack (she/her) is an Assistant Professor of Cinema and Digital Media at UC Davis, where she is also affiliate faculty with the Performance Studies and Cultural Studies programs. She earned her PhD in English with specializations in Film Studies and Latinx Studies from The Ohio State University in 2023. Her research historicizes Hollywood’s formation of the Latina star in the twentieth century and traces how legacy star marketing informs Latina social media influencers’ digital self-mediation in the twenty-first century.
Her publications on Latine/x new media and U.S. popular culture can be found in the journals Camino Real, Girlhood Studies, and Label Me Latino/a, as well as in edited collections like Taylor Swift as Storyteller: Identity, Power, and Digital Culture (OSUP, 2027), Latinx Comics Studies (Rutgers UP, 2025), and TikTok Cultures in the United States (Routledge, 2022).
She presently serves as the Social Strategist for the Comics Studies Society, a Member-at-Large with the International Comic Arts Forum, and on the advisory board for The Latinx Comic Arts Festival.
