Professors Cortez and Fifield-Perez in two person show at Commonwealth and Council
A new two-person exhibition at Commonwealth and Council in Mexico City features the works of UC Davis Professors of Art Beatriz Cortez and Fidencio Fifield-Perez. Opening Aug. 17 at Commonwealth and Council, Shared Breath explores issues of migration, rootedness and time.
Both artists have the shared experience of having uprooted their lives to move thousands of miles to the United States. Using woven paper, acrylic paint and welded steel, Cortez and Fifielf-Perez present work that focuses on migration beyond individual or human boundaries, metaphors, political structures, or the economic pressures of global migration to reveal the essence of what it means to journey and transform.
“Shared Breath” is on view from Aug. 17-Oct. 19, 2024
