Mindy Cooper Leads Advisory Board for the Ann Reinking Scholarship

Broadway veteran Mindy Cooper, professor of theatre and dance, is the chair of the advisory board for the Ann Reinking Scholarship which has been established to honor the late award-winning choreographer, dancer and actress. The scholarship is now seeking applications for its first gift now through June 30.

The scholarship is a $5,000 annual award and mentorship for a young dancer moving to New York City to help support them in their artistic endeavors.

“Ann Reinking was an icon of the Broadway community- dancer, muse, choreographer, actor, director, creator, said Cooper. “But she was also the kindest person you could ever hope to meet or work with. We wanted to create a scholarship program to help young dancers at the start of their careers find a foothold and a community to mentor them. The Ann Reinking Scholarship Program is a tribute to her passion and compassion, her sense of artistry and humanity, a legacy worthy of her name, reputation and heart of gold.”

Cooper, who was a swing on the Reinking-choreographed 1996 revival of CHICAGO the Musical, joins such theatre luminaries as Chita Rivera, Joel Grey, Tommy Tune, Marilu Henner, Hinton Battle and Charlotte d’Amboise as well as  Reinking’s husband, Peter Talbert, and son, Chris Reinking Stuart.
