Arnoldsche Art Publishers
Professor Emeritus Gyöngy Laky published a book in 2022 titled Gyöngy Laky: Screwing with Order. Assembled Art, Actions and Creative Practice, which provides insight into her sustainable art, philosophy and innovations. Published by Arnoldsche in Germany, the book provides insight into her studio practice, activism and teaching philosophy, which champions sustainable art and design, original thinking, and the value of the unexpected.
Artist and sculptor Gyöngy Laky was once described as a “wood whisperer.” Her highly individual, puzzle-like assemblages of timber and textiles helped to significantly propel the growth of the contemporary fiber-arts movement. She founded Fiberworks Center for Textile Arts in the 1970s and joined the faculty at UC Davis, and retired in 2005. Screwing with Order is designed by Tom Grotta and edited by Rhonda Brown, with essays by Mija Riedel and David M. Roth, and a foreword by Jim Melchert.
