Orpheus X
Rinde Eckert will perform in a special production of Orpheus X, the work that won him the 2007 Pulitzer Prize nomination. This is an American Repertory Theatre/ART presentation in preparation for the Hong Kong International Festival. Orpheus X recently played at the Edinburgh International Festival.
Orpheus X is a riff on the ancient myth of Orpheus and Eurydice. The famous rock singer, Orpheus, has locked himself up in his recording studio where he dreams of rescuing the poet, Eurydice, from the underworld. Eurydice, meanwhile, is welcomed to the afterlife by the Queen of the Dead, who offers her something she could never have in the world above.
Orpheus X is a play in one act with both music and text by Rinde Eckert and video by Denise Marika. It is directed by Robert Woodruff. The three person cast features Rinde Eckert, Suzan Hanson and John Kelly.
This special performance of Orpheus X runs one night only, Saturday, February 16, in Main Theatre.
