Anaiste Reynoso
Student Spotlight: November 2015

Background

Anaiste Reynoso studied art at the NYC Art Students League prior to her current education at UC Davis as a Design and Cinema & Digital Media major. She aspires to be a major motion picture production designer and her main practice has been in marking and production design.

She strives to approach every project with a sense of excitement and works to create a fun and professional environment with every design team member’s participation. Her main objective for every project is to turn good design into a profitable business.

Work

She has done design work with companies such as Colgate-Palmolive and Swerve Inc. Her latest practice has been with Apple Inc. as a Production Design Assistant in Marketing/Communications. Her mentors include Susannah Wijsen (Apple Inc. Senior Video Producer), Jill Braaten (GettyImages Senior Strategist), and Bernardino Reynoso (Colgate-Palmolive Global Design Director).

One of the hardest pieces of advice she has received was from one of her production design idols, Christian Alzmann. She had a portfolio review with him around the time he was working on Star Wars: The Force Awakens. She mentions that “he said if you truly want something badly enough to where you would devote everything to it, opportunities will come.” She met one of her current mentors, Susannah Wijsen, by chance and she has taught her ”a tremendous amount” after she offered Anaiste a position to work with Apple Inc. Production Design team. Since then, Anaiste says that she “know[s] for certain that those words of advice ring true” and she plans on devoting the rest of her life to the studio arts. She hopes to one day be a production designer, winning Oscars while representing Industrial Light and Magic and Lucas Films.
