The UC Davis Fashion and Design Society (FADS) will present “Through the Looking Glass,” the 2025 Picnic Day Fashion Show, on April 12. The event will spotlight fashion created and executed by the Department of Design undergraduate students in the “Signature Collection” course.

Gozde Goncu Berk, Associate Professor of Design and instructor of the “Signature Collections” course is excited the Department of Design will again host the show at its Makerspace Courtyard in Creuss Hall. The event will be presented live and outdoors at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.

“Prepare to be enchanted as we blur the line between fantasy and reality on the runway! ‘Through the Looking Glass’ invites you to step into a world of whimsical creativity,” said Sara Lindstrom, President and Executive Director of the Fashion and Design Society at UC Davis. “This year we are showcasing 13 student designers in handcrafted collections from the capstone fashion design course.”

A reserved ticket guarantees patrons a seat at the show. Free standing room is available behind the reserved seating. Tickets are $12 until April 6, and $15 thereafter via the Aggie Ticket Office online at ucdavisaggies.evenue.net/events/STUD or by phone or in person Mon–Fri, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., via (530) 752-2471 or the UC Davis Health Stadium.

In conjunction with “Through the Looking Glass,” there will be a one-day outdoor installation that showcases each designer’s process along with their other works, including textiles, wearable technology and more.

In addition, the UC Davis Design Museum in Cruess Hall will be open noon-4 p.m. for patrons to attend “Visual Journals: 2010–2024,” an engaging exhibition that brings together the colorful illustrated journals of students who participated in the summer study abroad program, “Design in Europe.”

The Department of Design is housed in the College of Letters and Science at UC Davis and is the only comprehensive design program within the University of California system.
