“Mind Grown”
UC Davis Design Pop-up Exhibition
The John Natsoulas Gallery is pleased to present a group pop-up show featuring works by UC Davis design students. “Mind Grown—UCD DES 225: Studio Practices in Design: A Culminating Pop-up Exhibition” is a single night event and reception on Wednesday December 7th from 7:00 – 10:00 p.m.
The show features the work of 14 students: Jenni Cadieux, Alicia
Decker, Justin Goldwater, Emily Harris, Lauren Kelly, Christine
Knobel, Michelle Lee, Rachel Max, Darin Reyes, George Slavik,
Lanwei Su, Daria Taback, Sheena Tu, and Corey Wolffs.
The seven group projects on display are informed and inspired by
Stuffed and Starved: The Hidden Battle for the World Food System
by Raj Patel, the 2016–17 UC Davis Campus Book Project. These
thought provoking works include immersive installations,
interactive exhibits, and works on paper. The projects address
issues all along the food chain, from production to consumption,
and touch on concerns that include labor practices, health and
nutrition, local food programs, the meat industry, and social
aspects of dining. These ideas were brought to fruition during
the Fall 2016 quarter in the Studio Practices in Design course,
taught by Glenda Drew.
The designers will be present at the opening reception.
Also on view in the gallery is “Kerry Rowland-Avrech and Kelly
Detweiler”
