Works by professor emeritus part of a new Latino art initiative
The Blanton Museum of Art at the University of Texas at Austin is soon to become a major hub for Latino art, thanks to the donation and purchase of more than 5,000 works of art from the collection of Gilberto Cárdenas and Dolores Garcia. Included in this collection of Chicano and Latino art, are works by artists with UC Davis connections: Maceo Montoya, professor of Chicana/Chicano studies and English/creative writing, and Malaquias Montoya, professor emeritus in art studio and Chicana/Chicano studies.
