“Auditions,” a new show at The Verge Art Center curated by Richard Haley (M.F.A., ‘07), takes a close look at the artist’s process and the intersection of form and matter in sculpture and video. This group show examines the translation and transformation of real life objects and substance through lens based technologies and questions what is revealed, made manifest in material and matter when it is translated into an image.

In addition to the curator, “Auditions” features several artists with UC Davis connections: Professors Robin Hill and Shiva Ahmadi, and alum Sandra Ono (B.A., ‘03). Also showing are Allana Clarke, Virginia L. Montgomery, Aki Sasamoto and Kenneth Tam.

“Auditions” is on view from Jan. 13-Mar. 17, 2024. An opening reception will be held on Saturday, Jan. 13 from 5-8 p.m.
