The Artist in Residence Program at Recology San Francisco is an art and education program that provides Bay Area artists with access to discarded materials, a stipend, and a large studio space at the Recology San Francisco Transfer Station. During each four-month residency, two artists or collaboratives work in on-site studios and scavenge in the Public Reuse and Recycling Area for materials to make a body of work. Public exhibitions are held at the end of each residency.
