Alum presents solo exhibitions in LA and Seoul
Seongmin Yoo’s (M.F.A ‘24) solo show “Visions of the Universe” features a new collection of surreal paintings and installations that explore the mysteries of space, alternate realities and the future of humanity. Her dreamlike paintings and large-scale installations will be on view simultaneously at both the Corey Helford Gallery in Los Angeles and LP Gallery in Seoul.
“Visions of the Universe” is Yoo’s first solo show in Korea and represents a homecoming that fuels her exploration of her Korean heritage in art. Inspired by Yves Tanguy and Theresa Hak Kyung Cha, Yoo’s fantastical paintings and installations fuse traditional Korean technique with contemporary storytelling to engage themes of social justice, feminism, and environmental activism.
“Visions of the Universe” will be on view at the Corey Helford Gallery in LA from Feb. 1-Mar.8, 2025 and at the LP Gallery in Seoul from Mar. 4-Mar. 30, 2025.
