Fidencio Fifield-Perez
Assistant Professor of Art
Fifield-Perez is an artist whose current work examines borders, edges, and the people who must traverse them. In his work, Fifield-Perez’s interdisciplinary practice centers the materiality of paper ephemera, everyday self-documents discarded after having fulfilled their purpose. For Fifield-Perez, printmaking, collage, and painting are ways to visualize and connect mental landscapes of past and present.
Fifield-Perez has exhibited at multiple institutions including The Cleveland Museum of Art, the Herbert F. Johnson Museum of Art, the Museum of Contemporary Photography, Chicago, International Print Center New York. He has completed artist residencies at The Studios at MASS MoCA, Ox-Bow, ACRE, Crosstown Arts, and the Galveston Artist Residency, among others. He has been awarded the Eliza Moore Fellowship at Oak Spring Garden Foundation, the inaugural Dr. Harold R. Adams Artist-in-Residence Fellowship at The University of Minnesota, and a 2024 McKnight Printmaking Fellowship.
