“not never over nothing,” Professor Fidencio Fifield-Perez’s new solo at Commonwealth and Council, features works that examines migration and the absurdities at the heart of state apparatuses of documentation. Using grid-like forms and patterns and working with painting, collagraphy, weaving, and collage, Fifield-Perez’ recreates the network of surveillance and architecture that impassively monitors people during some of the most harrowing moments of their lives.
