The UC Davis Fashion and Design Society (FADS) will present the 2022 Picnic Day Fashion Show, “Prism,” on April 23. The show will feature fashion created and executed by Department of Design undergraduate students in the Signature Collections course.
The event will be presented live and outdoors on the new Cruess Hall Makerspace Courtyard at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.
“This year we celebrate our return to a live event, our first since 2019,” said Gozde Goncu-Berk, assistant professor of design. “As always the collections display wide range of concepts from sustainability, minimalism, craftsmanship to cultural diversity merged into aesthetic qualities of each outfit.”
“We wanted to showcase the new Department of Design spaces and move the show outdoors as part of Picnic Day,” said Ingrid Yeung, president of FADS. “In addition to the fashion show, the audience is invited inside the new Cruess Hall Makerspace to view an exhibition highlighting the research, renderings and details about the creation of each collection.”
A limited number of discounted tickets at $10 are now on sale through April 16. Thereafter tickets are $12 for general admission.
Tickets may be purchased at the UC Davis Ticket Office, located on the north side of Aggie Stadium, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, by phone (530) 752-2471 during the same hours, or online at design.ucdavis.edu.
The Cruess Hall exhibition will be open to all Picnic Day participants at 2 p.m. after the second show. The video show will be available online on the FADS website.
The Department of Design is housed in the UC Davis College of Letters and Science, and is the only comprehensive design program within the University of California system.
