Professor Carnwath highlighted in several local and national shows
Former Professor Squeak Carnwath is currently featured in several shows across the county. Nearby at b. sakata garo in Sacramento, Carnwath’s solo show ”Here Now Then When” will be on view until December 4, 2021. Carnwath was a Professor in Art Studio from 1983-1998 before transferring to UCB’s Art Practice Department.
“Next to You,” a group show at the McEvoy Foundation for the Arts in San Francisco, is an exhibition that explores people as participants in the performance of their own lives. This show highlights artworks from the McEvoy Family Collection and is on display until December 4, 2021.
“e Pluribus: Out of Many” is the first digital annual exhibition in the National Academy of Design’s history. Organized as a completely virtual experience, this show includes the work of numerous artists, including Eve Aschheim (M.F.A. ‘87) and Carnwath, to look at our contemporary moment and the various ways that the COVID-19 pandemic, continuous demands for social justice and racial equity, and the 2020 presidential election have manifested as vestiges of America’s inability to fully realize its initial motto, e pluribus unum. “e Pluribus” is on view remotely until November 30, 2021.
