Ola Lorens Memorial Travel Scholarship now accepting applications

The Ola Lorens Memorial Travel Scholarship is offered in memory of Design major Ola (Alexandra) Lorens (1991-2014) through the generous gifts of Patrick and Ewa Lorens Kinney, Molly Kinney and family, and Ann and Mike Savageau. This scholarship supports Design undergraduate students with grants up to $1000 to assist educational interests such as (but not limited to) attending workshops or conferences, visiting archives or museums, and traveling for research or internships.

The Ola Lorens Memorial Travel Scholarship competition is open now for submissions with an application deadline of 11:59 pm PT (Pacific Time) on Wednesday, May 25, 2022.

The department will hold an informal information session on Wednesday May 11, 2022, from 9-10:15 am in the Cruess Courtyard. This will be open-house style; feel welcome to drop in and stay for as little or as long a time as you wish. Similarly, questions about the application process are welcome during the last scheduled BYOM meeting of the Spring quarter, Friday May 20, 9:45-11 am in Cruess Courtyard.

OLMTS application suggestions

Application must include:

  • Description of the proposed travel/project/event, its significance and relevance to future career goals, not to exceed 750 words.
  • Name of a faculty mentor who will oversee the travel/project.
  • Current resume.
  • Detailed budget for all of the travel and related costs as well as any other funding that will be used to support the travel/project.
