By Bobby August Jr., Maria Candelaria,
Susan-Jane Harrison, Aaron Jessup
Fri-Sat, April 5-6, 8pm
Arena Theatre, Wright Hall
Free-of-charge
Solo Explorations 2013 presents new individual pieces by graduating Master of Fine Arts Acting candidates Bobby August Jr., Maria Candelaria, Susan-Jane Harrison and Aaron Jessup in HOT COUNTRY. The artists are set against a stark landscape: a varied shifting terrain, the map of political events, transit across the seas. “What country, friends, is this?” “Hot” by definition: intense, current, appealing and disturbing.
The four solo performers split identities: Question Mark by Bobby August Jr. revolves around alienation and loss; Susan-Jane Harrison’s Possession investigates the space between arrival and destination; in I’m Ulrike–Screaming, Maria Candelaria explores flesh within cells, a prism within prison; and Aaron Jessup’s Flying Dreams offers a transatlantic vaudevillian tragicomedy.
Solo Explorations: HOT COUNTRY plays Friday through Saturday, April 5-6, in Arena Theatre, Wright Hall. This production is open to the public and free-of-charge. Be sure to arrive early as seating is limited.
