Professor Darrin Martin’s Crash Satellite recently acquired by SFMOMA
Professor Darrin Martin’s Crash Satellite was recently acquired by San Francisco Museum of Modern Art for its permanent collection.
Crash Satellite was part of Martin’s Past Life Resonance, a body of work that came out of his summer 2023 residency at the Artist in Residence Program at Recology San Francisco. The work consists of scavenged materials from the Recology recycling and disposal facility, specifically two broken monitors, plastic aquatic work-out equipment, power strip, blue metal armature on wheels and a thumb drive. Crash Satellite monitors display their brokenness but the acquisition also comes with additional back up broken monitors.
