Film Fest @ UC Davis was held May 16 and 17 at the Varsity Theatre in Davis with awards presented on the 17 following that evening’s screenings. And the winners were:

Best Editing – Dominic Dal Porto, Perspective

Best Original Soundtrack – Merritt Hill, Made Home

Best Experimental – Jada Simone Hayes, unconditional.

Best Experimental – Haohan Ding, The Red House

Maggie Morgan Award for Design – Tyson Park, Tracks of Life

John Iacovelli Award for Best Art Direction – Bailee Banta, Fruitless

Best Animation – Cindy Law, Dream Catcher

Sarah Pia Anderson Award for Directing – Huiyu Zhou, I Lost My Passport

Best Documentary – Miranda Comstock, Welcome to Sunnyvale

Best Cinematography – Chenyang Zhou, The Watcher

This year’s faculty producers were Professor Darrin Martin, art studio; Associate Professor Branwen Okpako, cinema and digital media; and Associate Professor Julie Wyman, cinema and digital media. Faculty advisers were Professor Glenda Drew, design; Professor Jessie Drew, cinema and digital media; Professor Maggie Morgan, theatre and dance; and Professor Andrew Smith, cinema and digital media.    

The student staff consisted of Christine Davis and Yuxuan Zhang, co-producers, with Zhang serving as technical director and Davis as publicity director.
