Wayne Thiebaud 100: Paintings, Prints, and Drawings

Mark your calendars for “Wayne Thiebaud 100!”

In honor of Wayne Thiebaud’s 100th birthday, the Crocker Art Museum will present the largest survey of his work in 20 years. “Wayne Thiebaud 100: Paintings, Prints, and Drawings” will draw on the Crocker Art Museum’s collection as well as the collection of the Thiebaud Family and Foundation. This exhibition highlights 100 objects in every medium and every period of Thiebaud’s practice. Curated by Scott Shields, Chief Curator at the Crocker Museum, these 100 objects reveal the breadth of Thiebaud’s accomplishments in “the redefinition of ordinary things or actions though scale, color, space, and light.” [Crocker Art Museum, press release]

“Wayne Thiebaud 100: Paintings, Prints, and Drawings” will be accompanied by a catalog written and edited by Shields and featuring new scholarship on Thiebaud’s work and artistic influences.

This show will run from October 11, 2020 to January 3, 2021.
