Alum Vincent Pacheco presents solo exhibition at TGTG
Alum Vincent Pacheco’s (MFA 2017, BS Design 2003) solo exhibition “Smile Now, Cry Later” opens at The Garage on the Grove (TGTG) in Sacramento this Saturday, September 12 at 7-10 pm.
Pacheco’s solo exhibition taps into his family background of artists, gang members and drug dealers for his solo exhibition. He has filled the entire space with pinatas in the unlikely forms of guns, knives, syringes, bundles of cash and brass knuckles. The piñatas range from a nostalgic VHS tape of favorite movies from his Chicano upbringing to an oversized syringe- an artifact of his early proximity to family members who were active in the Mexican Mafia and the drug trade.
Pacheco worked as a graphic designer for many companies prior to returning to UC Davis to study art. He has had recent solo exhibitions at Mass MoCa in Massachusetts and Aggregate Space in Oakland.
TGTG is following strict COVID rules for the opening, to ensure
the safety of all art-going patrons.
