Matthew Weseley (M.A. 2013) is a Research Associate in the Art
History Program. His recent public lectures for the Davis
Humanities Institute and the Department of Art and Art
History focused on the work of Giuseppe Arcimboldo as an
influence on the works of Roy deForest and his circle.
A February 24th talk by Matthew Weseley is featured
in This
Week in the Humanities. The article, on the Davis
Humanities Institute website, notes Weseley’s juxtaposition of
Roy DeForest’s capricious artistic production with that of
16th-century artist Guiseppe Arcimboldo, famous for his composite
portraits that resemble still lifes made of fruits and
vegetables.
