Alum’s Artist-in-Residence show on view at Recology
Alum Torreya Cummings’ (B.A., ‘99) tenure as a Recology Artist in Residence is coming to an end with an exhibition at the Recology Art Studios.
Cummings’s residency at Recology began in October 2023 and will end January 2024 with a final show — “Paradise Lost & Found” — on Art Friday and Saturday, Jan. 19-20 and Tuesday, Jan. 23. Cummings will present her work alongside fellow artists-in-residence Craig Calderwood and CCA student Qadir Parris.
The Artist in Residence Program at Recology San Francisco is an art and education program that provides Bay Area artists with access to discarded materials, a stipend, and a large studio space at the Recology San Francisco Transfer Station. During each four-month residency, two artists or collaboratives work in on-site studios and scavenge in the Public Reuse and Recycling Area for materials to make a body of work. Public exhibitions are held at the end of each residency.
Professor Darrin Martin was a Resident this past June-September, 2023.
