Alum in solo show in Berlin
In her new solo exhibition in Berlin, April Camlin (M.F.A. ‘24) brings together her weavings and sculptural installations with a historic collection of beaded funerary wreaths from the Perlen Museum Berlin.
“Weaving Together Worlds” continues April’s work exploring issues of mourning and community. The exhibition examines questions such as what role did embodied and collective practices such as beading, weaving and singing play in cultures of mourning in the past? What can we learn from them today? How do people in mourning find community? Is it possible to “weave together worlds”?
“Weaving Together Worlds” is on view at Lisbeth, a gallery inside of Friedhof Sophien II cemetery in Mitte, on June 21 to September 14, 2025. April will present an installation in the cemetery titled “Fogsong” that includes a sound work made in collaboration with the Davis Threshold Singers. April will also lead a wreathmaking workshop in the cemetery on Sunday, June 22 from 3 – 6 p.m..
