Alum open studios for annual studio tour

The work and creative spaces of numerous UC Davis alumni will be featured in the 16th annual Sac Open Studios tour. Presented by Verge Center for the Arts, the event is Sacramento’s largest open studio tour and runs Sept. 11-12 and 18-19 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

This year participating artists include alumn Tavarus Blackmon (M.F.A., art studio, ’18), Jodi Connelly (M.F.A., art studio, ’18), Muzi Li Rowe (M.F.A., art studio, ’17), Manuel Fernando Rios (M.F.A., ‘11), Garrett Cotham (B.A., art studio, ‘01), Molly Stuart (B.A., art studio), Carrie Goehring Ziser (B.A., art studio), Cheryl Gleason (B.A., art studio), Janine Mapurunga (B.A., art studio), Linda Hoschler (B.A., art studio) and Nancy Sayavong who will be teaching sculpture for the Art Studio Program this Fall.

In addition, performance studies student Diego Martinez-Campos (M.F.A., dramatic art, ’20) is featured in the tour.

Presented annually by Verge Center, Sac Open Studios is a free, self-guided studio tour which is open to any artist in Sacramento County and part of Yolo County. In 2019, it attracted over 30,000 visitors and featured more than 250 emerging, mid-career and established artists in their homes and studios.

Participating artists open their art studios to the public during two weekends in September, and while plenty of the participating artists have traditional work spaces in studio facilities, many artists open their home studios or utilize other spaces to display their art during the tour.
