Alum nominated for Cassavetes Award
Congratulations to alum Robert Machoian (MFA ‘10) on his nomination for Film Independent’s Cassavetes Award!
The Cassavetes Award is presented to the best feature made for under $500,000. Film Independent will announce final winners at it’s 36th annual awards ceremony, set to air Thursday, April 22 at 7pm PT.
Machoian was nominated for his recent film “The Killing of Two Lovers” for which he is the writer, director and producer. ”The Killing of Two Lovers” premiered at Sundance on January 27, 2020 and is set to be released February 23, 2021 by Neon. Machoian has premiered three short films at Sundance Film Festival and other festivals around the world. His most recent short, “The Minors,” garnered him the Short Film Special Jury Award for Directing at the 2019 Sundance Film Festival.
