Zen and Tea in One Taste
Visiting scholar Qianhe Man, associate professor in Beijing Institute of Technology, will give a public lecture on how Zen philosophy has impacted tea ceremonies in “Zen and Tea in One Taste: Contemporary Aesthetic Reconstruction in Cross-Cultural Context.”
The concept of “Zen and Tea in One Taste” as a significant thesis in Eastern philosophy, integrates Zen wisdom with the spirit of tea ceremony, generating profound influence on contemporary artistic practices. From the connotation, historical and spatial origins, and its relationship with aesthetic theory and design practice, this paper explores the application of ‘Zen and Tea in One Taste’ in the fields of painting and design, as well as its impact on global value systems. Man’s research indicates that “Zen and tea in One Taste” provides a cross-cultural aesthetic paradigm for contemporary art, fostering the integration of art and life, and holds significant implications for global cultural development.
