Shiva Ahmadi Featured in New York Museum
Work by Associate Professor Shiva Ahmadi, graduate adviser Art Studio, is currently on exhibition at the Rubin Museum of Art in New York.
Ahmadi is among the artists participating in projects for the museum’s Tibetan Buddhist Shrine Room. Each artist reinterprets traditional and religious iconography and practices through sculptural installation, painting, and video.
Her video “Ascend” (2017), on view until April 6, 2020, poetically reflects on the global refugee crisis, while “Lotus” (2014), begins on April 8, features imagery from a watercolor by the artist and two Buddha sculptures from the Asia Society Museum, New York.
The Rubin Museum of Art is a dynamic environment that stimulates learning, promotes understanding, and inspires personal connections to the ideas, cultures, and art of Himalayan regions.
