Professor in show highlighting contemporary Latinx artists
The groundbreaking group show Aztlán: Tunel del Tiempo opened at
the national galleries of the Museo del Palacio de Bellas Artes
in Mexico City and features works by Professor Beatriz
Cortez.
Curated by UC San Diego Professor Ruben Ortiz Torres, and by
Pitzer College Professor Jesse Lerner in collaboration with LACMA
curator Rita Gonzalez, the exhibition brings together a
comprehensive installation of Latinx contemporary art from Los
Angeles to Mexico City. The exhibition includes Prof. Cortez’s
Stela XX (Absence), which was created for the 60th Venice
Biennale in 2024, The Argonaut, after Pakal (2018), and Chac
Mool, after Mayapan (2021).
