Professor Martin featured in “Crip”
Professor Darrin Martin’s video and 3D print “Contrapposto” is included in “Crip*,” a new traveling exhibition curated by Liza Sylvestre at Krannert Art Museum, University of Illinois, Champaign, Illinois. ”Crip*” asks: how do academic and cultural institutions inform awareness of disability? Who is responsible for access? And what happens when identities who have historically been excluded from art spaces begin to occupy these same spaces as artists? “Crip*” features artists questioning simplified identity distinctions or interpretations, and addressing disability and intersectional thinking.
“Crip*” will run from September 23 to December 11, 2021 at the Krannert Art Museum and then move to Gallery 400 at the University of Illinois Chicago in Spring 2022. In tandem, the Crip* Colloquium takes place on October 21 and 22 as a hybrid event, in-person at Siebel Center for Design and virtual via Zoom.
