Faculty Book Shortlisted for Saroyan Prize
The Missing Pages: The Modern Life of a Medieval Manuscript, from Genocide to Justice by Professor Heghnar Zeitlian Watenpaugh has been shortlisted for the 2020 Saroyan Prize for writing in the nonfiction category.
The Saroyan Prize is a biennial competition jointly awarded by the Stanford Libraries and the William Saroyan Foundation. It commemorates the life, legacy and intentions of William Saroyan – author, artist, dramatist, composer – and is intended to encourage new or emerging writers, rather than to recognize established literary figures.
Published by Stanford University Press, The Missing Pages has been honored with the 2019 Der Mugrdechian Armenian Studies Book Award, sponsored by the Society for Armenian Studies (SAS) and the Gold Medal (tie) in the 2020 Independent Publisher Book Awards (IPPY) – History (World) category, sponsored by the Independent Publisher Book Awards.
The winners of the Saroyan Prize will be announced in late summer.
