Alum in solo show at University Library Gallery, Sacramento State
“Rajkamal Kahlon: And Still I Rise” is a a twenty-year survey of work by alum Rajkamal Kahlon (B.A., art studio). Now based in Berlin, this is Kahlon’s first major art exhibition in the United States since 2005. Kahlon’s painting practice reclaims colonial narratives through a transformative process of overpainting atop disassembled book pages. Her work “talks back” to these archival documents and “point us towards spaces of potentiality and freedom.”
A panel discussion, moderated by Professor Elaine O’Brien, with the artist and Professor Susette Min, Heidy Sarabia, and Maria Vargas, will be held October 6, Wednesday, from 12-2 pm.
Following CSU campus Covid-19 protocols, the Library Gallery will have limited in-person capacity during our open hours. Make a reservation here.
