Alum in solo and group shows
Muzi Li Rowe (M.F.A. ‘17) is opening a new solo show “More, Faster, Better, Efficient” at the Arts Visalia Visual Art Center. The exhibition contains new sculptures made with defunct electronic cables and large scale photographs. Rowe uses antiquated technology and electronic waste as her subject matter, medium and material, combining analogue and digital methods, as well traditional crafts in her process. Her work dialogues between function and futility, excess and scarcity, temptation and rejection.
On view from March 6-30, 2025. An opening reception is scheduled for March 7 at 5.30-7.30 p.m. and an artist talk on March 8 at 2:00 p.m.
Rowe is also featured in a group show at the Axis Gallery in Sacramento. “Breaking Through: The Glass Ceiling Project,” on view in the Axis East Gallery, explores the relevance of the “Glass Ceiling” as a metaphor for how women are treated in the workplace. Has its meaning evolved over time to include the loss of fundamental rights? What will it take to break the glass ceiling, and will we know when that happens? These questions guided six collaborators to examine this 46-year-old metaphor. Artist featured in “Breaking Through” include Amy Vidra, Erin Kaczkowski, Heather Hogan, Ianna Nova Frisby, Natalie Sakurai and Rowe.
On view to March 30, 2025 with a Second Saturday Reception on March 8 from 5:00-8:00 p.m.
