Alum in group show at Heide Museum of Modern Art in Melbourne
Hong Chun Zhang’s large scroll drawing “Life Strands” has been included in a group show entitled “Hair Pieces” at Heide Museum of Modern Art in Melbourne, Australia. Zhang made this large charcoal drawing (5 feet x 30 feet) in 2004 for her M.F.A. thesis show at UC Davis (M.F.A., ‘04). ”Life Strands” is on loan from White Rabbit Collection on Contemporary Chinese Art in Sydney, Australia for this invited group show.
“Hair Pieces” runs from May 4 to October 6, 2024 and includes numerous artists such as Marina Abramovic, Janine Antoni, Sonia Boyce, Jim Dine and Ana Mendieta.
Zhang recently participated in a special exhibition at Triennale Milano during Milan Design Week. “Generating Visions: Alcantara in the Arts” was on view from April 15 through April 21 and was organized by Milan based textile company “Alcantara ” whose fabric Zhang has been working with in her art since 2020.
