Alum awarded Garcia Center for the Arts residency
Emmanuel (Emme) Camacho Larios (B.A. ’23) has been awarded the Estudio Aire Artist-In-Residence by Arts Connection in the Garcia Center for the Arts in San Bernardino.
Emme’s residency runs from January to February. During his time at Estudio Aire, Emmanuel will fabricate a tapestry made of corn husks with the aid of the adjacent communities in the Inland Empire. The title of his project is “Tapiz Celestial” and is part of Emmanuel’s ongoing series ”Terrestre Celestial.” “Tapiz Celestial” brings the communal efforts of labor with corn and maize in Mexican, and Latin American cultures, by inviting the community to construct a tapestry of sewn, dyed, and embroidered corn husks.
