Visiting Scholar Junping Liu on the visual representation of epidemics
Junping Liu, a Visiting Scholar in East Asian Studies and the Department of Art and Art History, will present his research on the visual depictions of epidemics and disasters in a public lecture in the East Asian Studies Speaker Series. Liu’s talk, “Art History of Anti-Epidemic Practices in China” explores the often overlooked topics of disasters in art history. The outbreak of COVID-19 led to an awareness of these events among scholars and Liu examines the diverse ways in which these events are visualized in Chinese culture.
Liu’s talk will be held on May 4 at the L.J. Andrews Conference Room (SSH 2203) from 4:10-5:30
