Haleigh Jones’ undergraduate thesis focused on the Florentine painter Fra Filippo Lippi, dismantling long-standing sensationalized myths drawn from unreliable sources and instead highlighting his technical skill and artistic mastery. At UC Davis, Haleigh plans to extend this critical approach to other artists of the Florentine Renaissance, investigating how embellished narratives and questionable biographies have shaped their reception across centuries. Their research interests center on Italian Renaissance art, historiography, and the reassessment of biography as a vital tool in art historical interpretation.
