Art History alumni participate in annual CAA conference
UC Davis art history alum were well represented at this years College Arts Association conference in New York City. Srđan Tunić (M.A. ‘23), Anya Shulman (M.A. ‘22), Dada Wang (M.A. ‘22) and Sienna Weldon (M.A. ‘23) all presented papers or spoke at roundtables.
At the New Painting: Recentered Perspectives session (Saturday, Feb. 15), Srđan Tunić, now a PhD candidate in Art History at Temple University in Philadelphia, presented “‘Block Bro Brooklyn Bro’: The Origin Myth of New York Grafitti and Transnational Hyrbids–Case Study of Belgrade, Serbia” and Jianda ‘Dada’ Wang, currently a PhD candidate at UC Irvine, discussed “On the Periphery: In Flux: David Diao’s Counter-Hegemonic Abstraction.”
At the Rethinking the Theory and Methods Art History Course session, (Friday, Feb. 14) at the , Anya Shulman presented “Reimaging Art History Education: Integrating Theory and Methodology into Introductory Art History Courses.”
Sienna Weldon, currently a curator for California State Parks, chaired the “Towards a ‘Pacific Turn’ in American Art History” session (Wednesday, Feb. 12).
Also participating at CAA 2025 was Professor Michael Yonan who co-chaired the “Boundaries of Sculpture” session on Wednesday, Feb. 12.
