Alum publishes article in Street Art and Urban Creativity journal
Srđan Tunić (M.A., ‘23) has just published “Queering the Urban Space” in the journal Street Art & Urban Creativity. Congratulations Srđan!
Srđan’s article is an abbreviated version of his M.A. thesis “The Adventures of Inspector Yoda the Wrinkled: Queering the Streets of Belgrade.” His thesis examines the artivist project by Nikola Herman (Nikša) known as Inspector Yoda the Wrinkled (Inspektor Yoda Zgužvani) and his pug dog Yoda whose street art brought critical commentary and humor to Belgrade, Serbia, between 2014 and 2018.
Srđan presented an early draft of his thesis at the international conference “Periphery of Street Art / Street Art on the Periphery” held as part of the Ljubljana Street Art Festival in 2022. The conference is the basis for Street Art & Urban Creativity‘s May issue (Vol. 10 No. 1 2024) – ”Understanding Walls on the Periphery: Street Art and Graffiti between Commodification, Dissent and Oblivion.”
Tunić is now a first-year Ph.D. candidate at Temple University in Philadelphia.
