One of UC Davis’s highest priorities is the safety of its students and all members of its community. UC Davis prohibits all forms of sexual harassment and sexual violence, including sexual assault, dating and domestic violence, and stalking. Such conduct violates University policy and may violate California law.
Modeled after the famous baterias of Rio de Janeiro’s renowned samba schools, the UC Davis Samba School performs high-energy music of Brazil’s Carnaval for audiences throughout Northern California. The group was formed in 2004 and has since become a vibrant force in campus life, performing at festivals, fundraisers and community events across the region. A contingent of 25 drummers muscle through traditional material taken from Rio’s major samba schools as well as original music created by the group.
New members are welcome to join in the fall quarter. New registration in the winter and spring is subject to the instructor’s approval.

Principally committed to influencing and expanding the repertoire for solo percussion through commissions and premieres, Chris Froh is a member of the San Francisco Contemporary Music Players, the San Francisco Chamber Orchestra, and the Empyrean Ensemble at UC Davis.
