UC Davis Alumnus Selected for San Diego Exhibition
UC Davis Alumnus Jason Engelund MFA 2013 has been selected to exhibit artworks in “Boundless: A California Invitational.” The exhibition will be the third triennial invitational at the Museum of Photographic Arts (MOPA) following State of Mind, 2010 and Staking Claim, 2013. The triennial invitational exhibitions highlight the work of contemporary photographers who reside in California.
Engelund’s photographic based artworks were nominated by gallery director Mark Pinsukanjana of Themes + Projects gallery in San Francisco’s new Minnesota Street Project and selected for the shortlist by Deborah Klochko, MOPA’s Executive Director and Joey Herring, Assistant Curator.
On his time as a UC Davis student Engelund recalls “the Master of Fine Arts program gave me the dedicated time to go deep into my studio practice and push myself to take risks and create new artworks. I was able to discuss ideas with really talented faculty and fellow students in the Art Department. The work I was able to accomplish here was a turning point. Continuing to work on the studio investigations that began with my thesis lead to the creation of the artworks that will be in the exhibition at the Museum of Photographic Arts.”
